PDF Notes Domino

Höegh Autoliners is a major player in the world-wide vehicle transportation industry. Besides carrying new cars for many of the world’s major vehicle manufacturers, Höegh Autoliners is today a world leader in transportation of used vehicles and High/Heavy rolling stock.

Höegh Autoliners is known for their passion for quality. In every port, and on every sailing, each vehicle is treated in accordance with Höegh Autoliners strict guidelines for safe, reliable cargo handling.

As part of continuous improvement, Item Consulting and Procedo was contracted for implementing an electronic system to replace the paper based quality procedure followed by the company.

Quality procedures followed by Höegh Autoliners were traditionally available in printed format and were mailed to different offices and agents throughout the world.

The benefits of creating a centralised electronic procedure and cargo routine system were 1) easy updating of procedures from a centralised location 2) faster dissemination of procedure data to worldwide offices and agents 3) cost saving associated with the mailing and posting.

The project was a success and that brought together hundreds of offices worldwide under a common platform of information dissemination.

Item Consulting implemented the system using DominoPDF from Primeapple Limited (www.primeapple.co.uk). DominoPDF is a server side PDF creation product for Lotus Domino.

Item is a value added System Integration partner for Primeapple products in Norway.

The main benefit of using this technology was the simplicity and cost effectiveness of implementation and the fact that end users can access the information using the free PDF reader without the need for any other application software.

Item evaluated various other products associated with Lotus / Domino and found DominoPDF to be the best fit for a server-side solution.
